Screen Time restrictions are available in macOS Big Sur. Let’s check-in and enable internal camera use from screen time, if it’s blocked. Follow these steps to turn on your MacBook, MacBook camera, and enable Third-Party Video Calling or Meeting Apps.
Click on the Apple Logo in the top Mac menu > System preferences > Screen time > Content & privacy from the left side > Click on Apps Tab > Checkbox for Camera. That’s all.

You will now see that hardware acceleration is available. Enable the toglge option and relaunch the browser. Now your browser can use more resources and RAM as needed.

Fix #1: Restart Your Mac
If the problem is minor, you can restart Mac to fix it. This technique is usually able to resolve all issues. You can continue to look for solutions to Mac problems without worrying.
Click on the Apple Logo () from the Top Mac Menu.

Fix #2: Quick fixes to fix camera not working in Big Sur

Step 2: Launch “Terminal” from Spotlight.

VDCAssistant sudo killall
Step 4: Type in code one more time in the terminal
sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant

Step 6: Relaunch FaceTime, Skype, or any other App you used.
Note: If you want to enter both commands on a single line, you will need to use the syntax below.
sudo killall VDCAssistant, sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant
Enter the admin password and click Finish.
Fix#4: Use Activity Monitor app [Worked]
You can’t fix the Mac camera that isn’t working during a Facebook video chat. The last option is to force close the activity from Activity Monitor.
Step 1: Close all applications that require a camera, such as PhotoBooth, Zoom or discord.

Safe mode detects and resolves any isolated problems that may occur on your Mac’s startup disk. This mode will only load the kernel extension for your mac. This will delete font caches, kernel caches, as well as other system cache files. This will allow us to identify issues caused by the previous macOS. Safe mode cannot be used to access your Mac as it will disable certain mac functionality such as accessibility features, file sharing, USB functionality, and so on.
You can put your Mac into safe mode by restarting it. To do this, go to the Apple logo > Restart option from Dropdown. After your Mac plays the startup sound, press and hold the Shift key from your keyboard. Release the Shift key from your Keyboard after you see the Mac login screen. Check if the Camera works perfectly. If your Camera is working properly, you can repair or reinstall/clean install macOS to fix the problem. Camera problems cannot be fixed in safe mode. This will also fix your mac’s software or hardware problems.
Fix #8: Create an account for a new user: Use the New Account File System
Your mac suddenly has problems with the Camera after Big Sur Update. You don’t have time to repair your Mac drive or reinstall/clean install macOS. I recommend creating a new account for your Mac. To create an administrator account on the same mac, click on the Apple logo > System Preferences> Users & Group> Click on Lock to Unlock and Add a New Account > Next Click on + Sign > Choose a DropdownDropdown User role [Administrator]
Next, enter a name and password and click on Create User. That’s all. Now restart your Mac, and log in to another account to verify that your problems are fixed.
Fix #9: Quickly Repair Your Disk Without Data Loss
Without reinstalling mac OS, we can repair your Mac Drive and remove user data. First Aid can be used to repair a specific MacOS disk partition, if your Mac has dual boot macOS. We need to open Disk Utility in your Mac. Spotlight Search [Command + Space] to open Disk Utility. Or, you can use the launchpad to open it. After selecting your macOS drive partition, click on the First Aid option from the top tab > Click Run to run Fist Aid for a selected macintosh HDD.
The First Aid disk repair option is not available for some macOS issues. You can fix this problem by using the install macOS. This will install the most recent version of macOS. Next, follow the instructions.
Fix #10: Reinstall macOS To Fix Camera Not Working on Big Sur
Reinstalling overwrites any file in the system and replaces corrupt files or folders. If your Mac is running the latest macOS version, then you should try this solution. Before you start, ensure your Mac is connected to the internet. This will allow your Mac to download macOS files during installation. Now restart your Mac. Hold down the Command + R key on the Keyboard after mac play, startup sounds. The macOS utility window will now appear on your Mac screen. The second option is to reinstall macOS.
Follow the instructions on screen and choose this option. You will need to choose the mac drive you wish to repair or reinstall.

Restart your Mac (Apple logo > Restart)
After listening to the startup sound, quickly press and hold command + R keys on the Keyboard. After you see the MacOS utility windows, release keys.
Disk Utility for Mac
Disk utility is the last option in macOS utility windows. Click on it. Click on it.

The latest macOS version will be downloaded to your Mac. To install macOS on a drive you choose, follow the instructions on Mac.
Fix #12: Third-Party Software Allows Camera Access
You can restrict the third-party software or apps from being installed on your MacBook Camera. These settings will be available under Macbook system preferences for newer macOS versions.
Click on System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Camera, and check the box to allow App like Google Chrome to access the Camera.
