The iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max were finally unveiled by the Cupertino tech company. They offer a variety of new features and improvements. After a delay of a month due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2020 iPhone 12 series was finally released. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max offer better design and performance than last year’s iPhone 11 Pro lineup. Apple has redesigned the antenna adjustments to improve network connectivity and the body now includes aluminum. The iPhone 12 Pro line offers major improvements in camera, performance, connectivity, and more.
Design and Display
The iPhone 12 series has received a major design upgrade. The iPhone 12 series has a boxy, square design with a stainless-steel body. The iPhone 12 Pro has a 6.1-inch OLED display, which is a significant improvement over the iPhone 11 Pro’s 5.7-inch OLED display. Cupertino-based Apple achieved this by shrinking bezels on the iPhone 12 Pro. The iPhone 12 Pro Max Max is available in a 6.7-inch OLED display. This is a significant improvement on last year’s iPhone 11 Pro Max, which was 6.5 inches. Both phones feature a Super Retina XDR display. Both displays support Dolby Vision and HDR10 as well as HLG. This glass is 4X more resistant to drops than any smartphone on the market. It also has IP68 certification, which is now rated up to 6m depth.
Camera Improvement and LiDAR
The iPhone 12 Pro line features a triple camera setup that includes a LiDAR (Light Detection & Ranging) sensor. The camera setups of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max are different. Let’s begin with the LiDAR sensor. This sensor was originally designed for Augmented reality (AR), but Apple also used it to improve camera performance. Apple claims that this sensor improves low-light photos, and helps pro models iPhones take great photos in dark environments.
The iPhone 12 Pro has a 12-megapixel main camera that includes OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and an f/1.6 aperture. The new 7P lens offers improved low-light performance.
The iPhone 12 Pro Max has a larger 12-megapixel main camera, which is 47% bigger with 1.7um more pixels. The iPhone 12 Pro Max also has a sensor shift OIS that helps to stabilize low-light photos up to 2 seconds. The iPhones come with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with a 120 degree field of view and an f/2.4 aperture. Cupertino-based company has also added night mode to the ultra-wide camera as well as the front selfie camera. Smart HDR3 allows both the iPhone to record better low-light videos and night mode timelapses. Apple ProRAW will be available for iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max users later in the year. This feature allows users to control colors, contrast, and many other settings. Pro users will be able to post-process photos and still take advantage of Apple’s Smart HDR3.
The iPhone Pro Max and Pro Max models will have the 10bit HDR video recording option. The iPhone Pro and Pro Max models are the first to record Dolby Vision HDR video at 4K60fps. It is also possible to edit DolbyVision videos directly from iPhone.
Performance of the A14 Bionic Chipset
Apple’s A14 Bionic Chipset was introduced in the iPhone 12 Series this year. This chip system is based on 5nm technology. This chip is the first to use 5nm technology in any smartphone on the market. It contains 11.8 billion transistors. The A14 Bionic 6 core CPU offers a 40% performance boost, while the 4 core GPU provides a 30% performance boost. Apple claims that the A14 Bionic GPU and CPU performance are 50% faster than any other mobile processor on the market. The Neural Engine also has 16 cores, making it twice as fast. This performance boost has again seen the iPhone 12 line rise to the top of performance.
5G with Smart Data Mode
Apple has introduced 5G compatibility to all four iPhone 12 models. The 5G iPhone will offer faster internet speeds and faster download/upload speeds. The 5G iPhones will have a Smart data mode, which allows users to switch seamlessly between 4G LTE and 5G networks for faster internet speeds. It will switch to 5G mode if the user requires more internet speed. Otherwise, it will continue on 4G LTE mode. This will increase battery life. During testing, Apple’s iPhone 12 was able to download at speeds of up to 4Gbps. All iPhone 12 models in the US will be able to support millimeter wave technology.
MagSafe is one of the most interesting features in the iPhone 12 series. This technology allows wireless charging to be connected more easily to your iPhone’s back. Wireless charging can be achieved at speeds of up to 15W with the iPhone 12 series. Apple claims that this can be used for wireless charging and also has new accessories and cases you can attach to your iPhone.
Earphones and Chargers Not Included
Apple has decided to remove the power adapter from the box and the wired headphones from the box in order to reduce carbon emissions. The iPhone 12 lineup is smaller than the previous iPhone models. On the other hand, the entire iPhone 12 line-up comes with a USB C to lightning cable.
Prices, availability, and colors
There are four colors available for the iPhone 12 Pro line: Graphite (Gold), Pacific Blue (Graphite), and Silver. The devices will be available for pre-order beginning on 16 October 2020.
